Splitting the Bill
After a big taco dinner, Marco and Lucía look at the check and argue about who pays. He wants to cover it all; she wants to split it evenly.
Órale, esos tacos estuvieron buenísimos. Joven, ¿nos trae la cuenta, por favor?
Wow, those tacos were amazing. Waiter, could you bring us the check, please?
Sí, y a ver cuánto salió. Creo que pedimos mucho.
Yes, and let's see how much it came to. I think we ordered a lot.
No te preocupes, yo la pago. Hoy va por mi cuenta.
Don't worry, I've got it. Today it's on me.
Para nada, Marco. Vamos a dividirla en partes iguales, como siempre.
No way, Marco. Let's split it evenly, like always.
Pero tú me invitaste la vez pasada. Ahora me toca a mí.
But you invited me last time. Now it's my turn.
Ándale, es mucho dinero. Déjame cooperar aunque sea.
Come on, it's a lot of money. Let me chip in at least.
Bueno, mira, el total son cuatrocientos pesos. ¿Qué tal si vamos a medias?
Okay, look, the total is four hundred pesos. How about we go halves?
Perfecto. Son doscientos cada quien. Eso sí se me hace justo.
Perfect. That's two hundred each. That sounds fair to me.
Hecho. ¿Y le dejamos propina al mesero? Fue bien amable.
Done. And do we leave a tip for the waiter? He was really nice.
Claro que sí. Déjale cuarenta pesos, veinte de cada quien.
Of course. Let's leave him forty pesos, twenty from each of us.
Va. Pero la próxima vez sí pago todo, ¿eh?
Great. Next time I really am paying for everything, though.
Eso lo vamos a ver. Gracias por la cena, estuvo padrísima la noche.
We'll see about that. Thanks for dinner, it was a great night.
